a) Server Log Files
When you visit our website, our provider automatically stores information in server log files (e.g., browser type, time of request, IP address). The legal basis is Art. 6(1) (f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in a secure and functional website).
b) Cookies
Our website uses cookies.
Technically Necessary Cookies: These are essential for website functions like the shopping cart. The legal basis is Art. 6(1) (f) GDPR.
Non-Essential Cookies (e.g., for Analytics/Marketing): These are used only with your explicit consent via our cookie banner (Art. 6(1) (a) GDPR and § 25 TTDSG – German Telecommunications Telemedia Data Protection Act).
c) Contact and Customer Account
If you contact us (e.g., via email) or create a customer account, we process the data you provide to handle your request or manage your account. The legal basis is Art. 6(1) (b) GDPR (performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures). - Order Processing and Fulfillment
When you place an order, we process your data (name, address, email, order details) to fulfill the contract. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. This includes processing for payment, shipping, and handling returns.
a) Payment Providers
We use external payment service providers (e.g., PayPal, Stripe, Klarna). Your payment data is processed directly by these providers. Their respective privacy policies apply. We do not store sensitive payment data. - Data Transfers to Third Countries (Hong Kong & China)
To fulfill your order, it is necessary to transfer your personal data to countries outside the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA), specifically to Hong Kong and the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
Neither Hong Kong nor the PRC currently has an adequacy decision from the EU Commission, which means they do not officially offer a level of data protection equivalent to that in the EU.
The transfer of your data is based on the exception provided in Art. 49(1)(b) GDPR. This article permits data transfers that are necessary for the performance of a contract between you and us.
Transfer to Hong Kong: Your data (name, address, contact details, order information) is transferred to our company headquarters, Safer Bike, in Hong Kong for central order management, invoicing, and customer service.
By placing an order, you enter into a contract with us. The transfer of your data to Hong Kong is an essential and necessary step to fulfill this contract. Without this transfer, we cannot process and deliver your order. - Data Retention
We retain your data only as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or as required by law. German commercial and tax laws require us to retain order-related documents for up to 10 years.
